Growth game: Queenstown Airport has a new chief executive to replace Steve Sanderson

Queenstown Airport has appointed a new chief executive who is keen to continue boosting its “spectacular growth”.
The Queenstown Airport board has chosen Scott Paterson, the chief executive of Port of Portland in Victoria, Australia, to fill the shoes of departing boss Steve Sanderson.
Sanderson is heading off to run Wellington Airport. Paterson starts in the Queenstown role on March 1.
Paterson has held the Portland job for four years. Prior to that role, he was the general manager of logistics at the Ports of Auckland for four years.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges of this new role and to continuing the spectacular growth Queenstown Airport has experienced in recent years for the benefit of the entire region,” Paterson says.
A Queenstown Airport statement says during his time at Portland Paterson helped transform the port by renewing relationships with Government, business and the small community by building and demonstrating the Port’s contribution to the region’s economies.
Queenstown Airport chairman John Gilks says they were attracted by Paterson’s senior management roles in Australian and New Zealand sea-ports, which strongly correlate to the airport business.

Queenstown community for the future,” Gilks says.
