Snow way: A decent dump of snow covers the Coronet Peak base building deck (above) and The Remarkables in Queenstown today (Friday)
|
An unseasonal snow dump has hit Queenstown.
By this morning, about 15 centimetres of snow had fallen up Coronet Peak, home to one of the resort town’s two ski fields. A decent smattering of the white stuff was also covering The Remarkables mountain range.
The dump comes after a consistently warm and sunny January – and three months after the end of the winter
snow season.
The MetService predicts a high for today of 14 degrees Celsius for Queenstown.
Normal summer service is expected to resume for the weekend with a high of 21 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday.
