Queenstown’s soccer team has broken a five-game losing streak in their last match this season – narrowly avoiding the wooden spoon.
Queenstown Rovers beat Rosyln-Wakari 2-0 at the Events Centre on Saturday, finishing 7th place of the nine teams in the Footballsouth premier league.

Club president Steve Henderson says the team's happy to finish on a high.

“Seventh for the season is probably a fair reflection of where we’re at this year,” he says. “I think if we’d stayed in ninth spot we would’ve been a bit unhappy with that.”

Central defender Charlie Hoyle was named man of the match for his “very tidy display of centre half football”, Henderson says.
