Netball nuts: Lucy Robins, Alex Jones and Emma Milliken
|
Wakatipu High’s ace netballers are lining up against the South Island’s best in a secondary schools competition in Blenheim this week.
The Queenstown girls will battle 31 other teams in the A grade league of the contest, which runs from today until Thursday.
Last year’s high school team came runners-up in the B grade, landing this year’s players in the top division.
The girls will have their work cut out for them, with only three veterans from the previous year in the squad – it’ll be a new experience for the other six players.
Coach Lauren Middleton hopes her team, who include 14-year-olds Lucy Robins and Bridget Kirk, will finish in the top half of the division.
“We’re certainly going to go out there and do our best,” Middleton says.
“They’re all pretty excited about getting away, so that’s a good sign.”
