Kiwi chart-topper Dane Rumble had a rough time on Queenstown’s skifields when he took a bad tumble last Monday and ended up in hospital.
The pop star pulled ligaments in his right shoulder while attempting a jump snowboarding down the Million Dollar run at Coronet Peak.
Rumble rocked the resort with a free concert at the skifield last Saturday night, belting out hit songs including Cruel and Always Be Here.
His manager Matt Coleman was skiing with him in the morning, when the singer suddenly went down in agony.
“We thought it was a broken collarbone,” says Coleman, who fetched the snow patrol to ski-doo Rumble, 27, to the base building.
“He had four very attentive ladies that looked after him really well,” Coleman adds.
After a visit to Lakes District Hospital to confirm the shoulder wasn’t broken, Rumble jetted out of the resort that afternoon.
But despite the scare he hasn’t been deterred from his favourite sport.
“Now he’s just taking a week break up in Bali to recover,” according to Coleman, who says the singer will be back in the country for the Silver Scroll Awards on September 8 in Auckland.
Rumble’s had a hectic schedule. He’s just back from two weeks in Australia promoting the release of his first single over the ditch Always Be Here with new record label Ministry of Sound.
It’s the No1 breaking song on radio across the Tasman this week Coleman says.
