Best Workplace

One of NZ's 'Best Places To Work'

For the last three years in a row, Mountain Scene has been rated one of NZ’s ‘Best Places To Work’.

The Queenstown-owned newspaper company has scored 80%, 85% and 88% in the nationwide staff satisfaction survey conducted by business magazine Unlimited.

A score of over 75 per cent is regarded as “excellent”, say survey assessors John Robertson & Associates.

In the annual surveys, Mountain Scene has ranked twice in the Top 10 among such big names as AMI, BMW, Fletcher Easysteel, Flight Centre, Fulton Hogan, GlaxoSmithKline, Microsoft, Toyota Financial Services, Vero Insurance, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Northpower.

In 2006 the Queenstown paper’s 18 staff were among 26,400 staff from 232 companies answering confidential online questionnaires. Survey assessors rated the newspaper’s strong points as:
Teamsmanship
Culture and Values
Learning and Development
Common Purpose
Being Treated With Respect
Freedom and Flexibility
Clear Vision
Confidence in -Leadership
Great Place to Work
Celebrating Success
Mountain Scene general manager Richard Thomas says:
“If you want to create a great product and a great business, you’ve first got to start by creating a great place to work.”
