Queenstowner Danielle Bailey is only 10 but already a golfer to watch out for.
Earlier this month she set the women’s course record at the Frankton nine-holer with an even-par score of 30.
“I think it’s incredible,” Queenstown Golf Club head pro Jamie McIsaac says.
“Most guys couldn’t get round there [in 30], it’s not an easy golf course because the greens are so small.”
Danielle this week graduated from The First Tee golf and life skills programme at the Frankton course.
Danielle says: “I think setting the course record is pretty fantastic. I got one birdie, one bogey and the rest were pars.
“I’m really happy. I’ve been playing for about a year-and-a-half, but the first time I tried it was when I was six. Putting is probably what I’m best at.
“I love playing because you don’t have to rush about, you can take your time. Every time I finish a round I want to start again.”
